Day 232: Dragonfly Blues:

Australia has 300 species of Dragonflies, and over 150 of those reside in North Queensland.  They seem to be out in full force at the moment and their colours are superb.  The baby dragonflies grow under water, and when they reach adult status can fly 40km per hour.  No wonder when they rest their wings are flat out, who would have the energy to hold them up after that sprint.  Their cousins the Damselflies, go a wee bit slower and because they do have the energy to rest with their wings up, and together on their back.  Mainly feeding on midges, as their staple diet I was hoping that perhaps there were a few more around this afternoon to eat the ones attacking me?  Don’t seem to learn that lesson, happens on regular basis, but hey, it is all for the greater good.
