Some people just like to take their time enjoy the journey just as much as the destination. To do that a train seems to be the great way to go. It may not be the cheapest way to get there with cheap airfares around; but if you like to keep your feet on the ground, it may be the plan. The Sunlander is all about the journey and takes 31 hours to get from Cairns to Brisbane. You would travel 1,678km without being behind the wheel, and dare say met some interesting people.
