Day 343: Clunes Vic.

Located in the middle of Central Goldfields – Victoria, Clunes is a town of hidden treasures.  Thankfully with the help of many the characteristic main street was saved from major destruction from the 2011 Victorian floods.  The historical buildings remain, to take you back in time, as you saunter down Fraser Street, the hub of the town.  A quiet settlement through the week, opens up to a vibrate cascade of vintage and modern cars abound on the weekend.  Their aim to discover the hive of cafes, galleries, pub, and gift shops emerging from the depths of the aged buildings.  Steeped in a rich past, you can still envisage the town as the first site of Victoria’s gold strike of the 19th Century.  Although, there are a few more modern cons there now, and well worth the visit.
