Day 348: Flower Power Friday

Last weekend attended a 70s party to celebrate a family members 40th birthday.  I think now, definitely should have been a grown up in the 60s and 70s, missed my calling in the fashion stakes.  Not sure about the rest of the excitement that played out in the 60s and 70s though.  The flower power era was a very different time to where we are now.  The actual flower power slogan starting in America, funny thing that.   It was used by a counterculture movement in the 1960s and 70s as a passive resistance and non-violent protest against the Vietnam War.    Hippies soon embraced the symbol and wore clothes with flowers on them as a sign of peace.  Then they carried on a little bit further with the drugs, psychedelic music and art and of course not to be left out; the free love baby.  After all that they even had time to give flowers out to passer-bys, and so the name ‘Flower Children’ was created.   Peace out man!
